World Schools 2009 - MadridCongratulations to Alice and Tom Fellbaum who have been selected to run in the World Schools event in Madrid next Spring. Qualification consisted of a special qualification race on Saturday 16th November, followed by a race in school year classes at the British Schools Championships on the Sunday. The event in Madrid next year will see teams from all over the World. Full details are on the BSOA website.
Yvette Baker Trophy qualifierWe fielded a small team at this years qualifying event at Torver, depleted mainly due to a clash of dates with an Interland selection race in the New Forest (well done to all the juniors who went there - some really good results). The weather was excellent for the time of year, blue skies and little wind, most ran in short sleeved tops. The courses were well planned and the terrain was challenging with quite a lot of complex detail. Romane Salathe and Matthew Fellbaum had good runs on the orange. The rest of the team ran well on yellow, Rosie Ogden, Jason and Hector Salathe, James and Tom McCann. Many thanks to all the runners and accompanying parents. DEE and WCOC qualified for the final in Kings Lynn on December 6th, not an easy journey. DEE in particular have a good chance of winning overall as they have strength in all ages, and it would be great if they did win as this would mean all the junior trophies, JIRCS, Peter Palmer and Yvette Baker reside in the North West. The target for next year is to retain the Peter Palmer Trophy and be in the final for the Yvette Baker. David McCann
