Wednesday Runs are hosted by various club members, and the location varies from week to week. Current venues include Adlington, Bramhall, Didsbury, Hale, Hazel Grove, Macclesfield, Marple, New Mills and Whaley Bridge. The rota is published in the club broadsheet.
The runs cater for all levels of fitness and there is normally a choice of routes of about 3-4 miles, 5-6 miles and 7-9 miles, depending on the venue. During the summer months, we try to go off road as much as possible and runs use a variety of local footpaths, canal towpaths and open areas such as Lyme Park. Winter runs are mainly on roads and tracks but bring a torch.
New members are always welcome. The runs start at 7:00 pm.
Meetings of the MDOC Junior Club combine technical training with social activities like trips to the local swimming pool. Please contact Jenny Shaw for further details.
Club grants are available for juniors taking part in BOF/Regional training sessions, competitions and coaching courses. Details available from the Treasurer.
During 2005, it was decided to introduce a new orienteering top for members. The new tops are from the Norwegian company, Trimtex. The basic colours of the previous tops (i.e. green, blue and white) have been retained, but the new tops are different in design and material.
The 'Extreme' O-top is short-sleeved and close fitting, and is made of Coolmax fabric. These tops are very popular in Scandinavia and are favoured by many clubs and national teams. They cost approx. £26 each, depending on the size of the order. It is suggested that you order one or two sizes up on your normal size.
The 'Standard' O-top is looser fitting, with long sleeves, and is made from 100% polyester. They cost approx. £22 each, depending on the size of the order.

Orienteering trousers - navy blue trousers from Trimtex cost approx. £16 each, and go with either of the above tops.
Orders from Trimtex normally take 6 to 8 weeks for delivery once the order has been confirmed.
Lightweight Nylon Rainjacket - navy blue, with MDOC printed on the back. These jackets are made in a wide range of sizes. They are stock items which are readily available, and cost £12.50 including lettering.

MDOC is currently building a knowledgebase of information for anyone involved in organising, planning and running events. All the information is based on the knowledge and experience of club members. Files which need to be held separately from the knowledgebase (e.g. forms, spreadsheets, OCAD files) will be held in an online library which can be referenced from the knowledgebase.
