About MDOC
Who Are We
We are one of the larger orienteering clubs in the North West covering mostly the central and southern parts of Greater Manchester together with adjacent areas of East Cheshire and High Peak.
Manchester and District Orienteering Club (MDOC) was founded in 1965 and is one of the larger clubs in the North West of England. We are affiliated to the North West Orienteering Association (NWOA) and to British Orienteering.
Our members come from all parts of Greater Manchester and the surrounding area but our largest concentration of members is in South Manchester and Macclesfield. We welcome both senior and junior members. Several of our juniors are active members of the North West Junior Squad.
We have a regular programme of events throughout the year, details of which can be found on the Events page, and a Club Run every Wednesday.
We welcome newcomers at all our events but the Saturday events in Spring and Autumn, and the Lyme Park Introductory series in May, are particularly suitable for first timers and school groups - just make yourself known to the organisers at the registration point.
In addition, there are many permanent orienteering courses in the Greater Manchester area. Details of these can be found on the GMOA website.
The club also has Social Events and publishes a regular Newsletter.
