Event Report

The failure of download was disappointing, but fairly easy to fix by reading the start and finish boxes. The real reason for a day's delay on the usual results service was half-a-dozen people who hadn't uploaded their results. Please can you ensure you've uploaded by checking the actual MapRun result site and seeing if you are on it ?  Uploading is not as automatic as you might hope, and just cos it has uploaded to Strava doesn't mean it is also on MapRun !

People should be clear that you get points if you get a beep or if you write the answer down. Simples. This protects the organisers against randomness of runner technology, and protects the runners against possibly misplaced circles or errors in the base map.

Several of the paper points were controls 36 and 48, but there were plenty of others.

Pre Event Info

Score event with 40 minute, 60 minute or 75 minute time limit. Under 16s MUST be accompanied by an adult. 16 and 17 year olds can compete alone but ONLY with written consent from parent/guardian. Lights essential (+ back-up). High-visibility clothing compulsory.

Venue: Macclesfield Cricket Club, Victoria Road, SK10 3JA

The event will be a MapRun event, enabling use of the MapRun6 app on your phone or the MapRunG app on to your watch.

If you are new to the system, please read the instructions on our website

and download the MapRun apps to your phone or watch.  The event files will be available for download from next Sunday (30th October). You are strongly advised to download everything you need before you arrive at the Cricket Club.

As usual at our NSL Maprun events, a traditional paper-based backup will be available for those who request it.

Start and Finish will be timed using SI as usual.

Everyone should pre-enter using the MDOC Registration System Select your course, then choose a start block. If you do not have your own SI card (dibber), a hire dibber will be allocated to you. This process will guarantee that a map is available for you on the night.

If you wish to run as a pair, you both need to pre-enter the event.

Entries will close at midnight on Sunday 30th October.

We would prefer to avoid entry on the day (EOD) but a limited number of maps may be available. Please do NOT rely on it.

On the night registration will be based in the club. You will need to pick up your personalised clue sheet and a dibber (if requested) and pay for your entry. Our preferred system of payment is by contactless card - using the iZettle system. Cash payments will be possible, but not encouraged.

Please note that all runners will receive a map, and will be charged for it (£4 senior, £2 junior);  additional maps (for people running in pairs) will be charged at £2.

Parking is in the Cricket Club car park. This is also used by NHS Hospital staff, so please don't assume that all cars belong to event participants - and don't block anyone in!

Food will be provided by the Cricket Club on a pre-order basis. The options are:

  • Chicken curry and rice
  • Meat chilli with a jacket spud
  • Veg chilli with a jacket spud (should be gluten free)

Price will be £6.00

Food available from around 7.15pm.

The Cricket Club has asked us to let them know how many meals will be required. Please email Grahame with your order by 10.00am next Friday (28th Oct).

  • you don't have to use MapRun - you can just fill in the answers on your cluesheet,
  • in the (unlikely) event of a missing "beep" at a control, MapRunners MUST record a written response on their clue sheet,
  • photos of typical control sites can be seen on the Typical NSL Controls webpage,
  • final details - including a copy of the Safety Notice, and the safety map will be emailed to all pre-entries after entries have closed - they will not be available at registration.
