Results

Please check your results carefully for spelling/club/year of birth/correct timing and score, and let us know asap of any errors. If your score is not what you were expecting, and you don't feature in the wrong-answers list, one of us has made a mistake.

A table showing the new handicap factors for 2018-19 can be found on the Night Street League Series 2018-19 page.

Late runs

Don't forget that if you can't make a particular event, you can get the map and questions from Grahame , and run by yourself before or after the day, and have your score included. However, on this occasion, late runs can be offered but In view of last night’s icy conditions causing reduced speeds, anyone doing so would have a significant advantage and their scores can't be counted.

Wrong answers (number in brackets is the correct answer):

#44 (wood) Ian Watson wind  WRONG – But accepted because the control broke the NSL rule that requires that no disturbance should be inflicted on residents. At a distance the wording was not clear.

#48 (2) James Corden 1  WRONG – This is the only TP on that junction.

#52 (7) Tom Marler 6, Andrew Smith 5  WRONG – 5 is on the side street to the west

#54 (387) Tom Marler 5NW WRONG – SK8 5NW is the correct postal code for the location but this does not appear on the post box itself.

#62 (26) Paul Turner 27   WRONG – 27 is the lamp post at the end of the street alongside the footpath

#79 (53) Jean Payne 50  WRONG – Possibly mistook 3 for 0

#84 (7) Lisa Bloor + Cath Tombs 2  WRONG – Possibly mistook 7 for 2

Additional information from the organiser

Mapper and Planner Ian Gilliver has provided the following information ...

The mapped area is immediately south of the M60 between junctions 1 and 2, stretching from Cheadle Village in the west to the Stockport suburb of Edgeley in the north-east. Both are some 2km from the event centre at the Micker Brook pub, which offers a wide range of food. The carvery will remain open until 21:30, and burgers and pizzas will be available until 22:00.

I've asked them to make sure there are two real ales available - fingers crossed.

The area is largely flat but quite varied in nature, and it is intersected by the Micker Brook itself (7 crossing points), and by 3 railway lines (respectively 3, 8 and 8 crossing points), so there's plenty of route choice.

Edgeley itself is characterised by a rectangular grid of Victorian terraced housing, one row separated from the one behind it by a wide alley, mapped as a footpath. In recent years several (but not all) of these alleys have been gated off and so are out of bounds to competitors. There is insufficient space on the map to represent every gate, and so these gated zones have been identified by a modification to the standard "route out of bounds" symbol, slightly reduced in size and in red crosses rather than in purple. For the avoidance of doubt, those alleys (footpaths) which have not been mapped with red crosses are in bounds to runners, as is the surrounding road network - only those footpaths mapped with red crosses are out of bounds.

With the usual penalties of 30 points per minute late, control points vary from 30 to 80 - so every one is worth a visit!

Reserving a map

As usual, we need to know the approximate numbers of runners so that we can ensure that we have enough maps for all.

Maps and Question sheets for this event will be printed on Saturday 26th of January. So, to reserve your map for this event, please email Grahame at , indicating the number required, by 10pm on Friday 25th January.

If you are a "first-timer", please provide details of your club, and year of birth, along with your name.

And don't forget ...

All competitors MUST wear a high-visibility top.

There are no exceptions to this, and no excuse for not wearing one, as we can lend you one if you have forgotten yours.

NO High Viz top, NO GO.
