Event Report

Please check your results carefully for spelling/club/year of birth/correct timing and score, and let us know asap of any errors. If your score is not what you were expecting, and you don't feature in the wrong-answers list, one of us has made a mistake.

A table showing the new handicap factors for 2018-19 can be found on the Night Street League Series 2018-19 page.

Don't forget that if you can't make a particular event, you can get the map and questions from Grahame , and run by yourself before or after the day, and have your score included.

Wrong answers and rulings

(number in brackets is the correct answer)

#37 (4) Karen Andrew+Maria Rushton 8, Matthew Snarr 3

#45 (7) Sarah Daniels+Marcus 2

WRONG 7 very clear

WRONG probably put answer to 57 in wrong box

#64 (3) Simon Rushton No

WRONG the only LP without a number was two LPs away and not on the bend or path junction

#65 (8) Mike Wharton 7

WRONG TP with 7 was on opposite side of road over the grass verge some distance away

#68 (0) Helen Gray+Beckie Sullivan 1

WRONG TP with 1 was at road junction to the south

#77 (2 or 3) Sally Gilliver, Mark Burley 1

ACCEPTED the 2nd bath was upside down and at night possibly not obvious

Travel

Whilst the new link road from the Airport to the A6 out of Hazel Grove nicely bypasses Stockport there will be a queue at rush hour to get off the road and towards High Lane. Please factor this in your journey time.

Format of Event

There are two parts, two maps,  but only one question sheet.

Part 1 has 30% of the controls, 30% of the value and 30% of the distance
Part 2 has 70% of the controls, 70% of the value and 70% of the distance

Part 1 map and questions are issued at Start (PUB)
Part 2 map Go to the Finish Symbol marked as MAP on the Part 1 map

Hand over Part 1 Map and receive the Part 2 map.

NB Whilst you do not have to get a Part 2 map it is probably advisable that you do so.

Timing finishes when you return and punch the finish control back at the PUB

The scoring values are 20s to 70s as other events but check the map scale and penalty points before starting.

Additional Safety Information

The map is bisected by the main A6 road from Stockport to Buxton and will be busy most of the evening.

There are 13 crossing points marked on the map (Pedestrian lights or bollards). PLEASE USE THEM.

Take care if using the Canal Towpath as it is Unlit but the path is in generally good condition albeit slightly muddy in places.

Terrain

The area to the NORTH EAST of the A6 from where it turns SE rises steeply along the whole route.
The area North of the A6 and West of the canal goes down moderately steeply.
The rest of the area has relatively gentle slopes rising mainly eastwards.

Reserving a map

As usual, we need to know the approximate numbers of runners so that we can ensure that we have enough maps for all.

Maps and Question sheets for this event will be printed on Monday 11th February, so to reserve a map for the event, please email Grahame at ,  indicating the number required, by 5pm on Sunday 10th February.

If you are a "first-timer", please provide details of your club, and year of birth, along with your name.

And don't forget ...

All competitors MUST wear a high-visibility top.

There are no exceptions to this, and no excuse for not wearing one, as we can lend you one if you have forgotten yours.

NO High Viz top, NO GO.
