Manchester and District Orienteering Club
"John o' Goats" Charity Event at Lyme Park
Sincere thanks to all the competitors for your overwhelming generosity. To date the total donations stand at £1904. It is very likely the final total will be in excess of an astounding £2000 once we have checked the gift aid donations.
It was evident the courses that Eddie set were appreciated by nearly everyone given the comments I heard. I understand that perhaps the Long course was a little too long as Lyme Park is physically demanding in parts although not too technical.
MDOC helpers can always be relied upon to do an excellent job and Saturday was no exception. Special thanks to the computer and registration teams for their efficiency and to the planner for his imaginative and challenging courses. The team of control hangers and collectors must be thanked also for their effort. The raffle ticket sellers also did a superb job and sold over 350 tickets.
It is not often that we praise the weather conditions at this event but even the usual January wind and sleet disappeared entirely for the event and the bright sunny Saturday was just right.
Apologies to any who might not have been able to run on their chosen course as numbers just slightly exceeded our estimated number.
Happy New Year to everyone and enjoyable orienteering throughout 2008.
