Planner's Comments

Planning on Brereton is always limited by the size and strongly defined doughnut shape of the area, which makes it impossible to plan courses which are technically more than Light Green standard. For this reason, we have taken to using other means to challenge competitors wanting a longer run - who can forget the Norwegian map memory?! This year's 'Master and Slaves' score idea was borrowed from SROC, who used it at their New Year's Day event to good effect. Judging by the positive comments from finishers, it made an enjoyable change from the usual score format.

Much of the satisfaction of competing at Brereton this year was also down to Martin Green's excellent new map, which made that fiendish path network in the woods legible at last. Many thanks to Martin.

Thank you also to Ray Humphries, the controller, for his thoroughness and advice - and thanks to the control putting-out and collecting helpers, whose many hands made the task much quicker.
