Manchester and District Orienteering Club
"John o' Goats" Charity Event at Lyme Park
When we volunteered to plan and organise this year's JoG, we hadn't realised how different it would be to a 'normal' Lyme Park event! From the many positive comments made both on the day and subsequently, everyone appears to have enjoyed themselves and it would seem that we created some route choice challenges which was our aim.
We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone attending. At this stage we have raised £1505, which will increase further when gift aid is reclaimed! So on behalf of the chosen charities a huge thankyou for all your donations.
Whilst it was very wet underfoot in the park yesterday, we were lucky to have such fine weather although it could have been warmer! During the recent storms the park has been closed for a number of days which was a concern up until Friday afternoon. The added benefit of being able to use the main car park made the event run much more smoothly and the club is grateful to the National Trust for allowing this and for the use of the park.
Thanks to you all for coming and supporting this special event.
