Planners Comments

Thankyou all for coming to our Countryside Score event in Disley we hope you enjoyed it. How many hoops? Well there were/are 7 but it sounds like they were a moving feast on the night with gardeners cutting the grass so we have decided to give everyone who visited the control a point. The only other thing that caught people out was how to get to Archie, the Archimedes Screw in the Torrs, I was going to say in the briefing to think in 3D but I'm not sure that would help. The Torrs are accessible directly from 26, 28 and 29 but that isn't at all obvious from the OS map clutter, what we need is a nice ISSOM map ;)

Thanks to everyone who helped on the night and before and a big thankyou to the White Lion for allowing us to use the pub as our venue.

Pre Event Info

Venue: The White Lion,135 Buxton Road, Disley. SK12 2HA

Rural score event using public rights of way on an enlarged OS map extract.
60 or 90 minute score event.
Bring a pen/pencil and your watch.

If you are planning to run please email Dave McCann on to reserve a map.

And if you a looking for a pub sign with a Lion on it, you may miss the pub is coming from Disley direction because the sign has a Zebra on it....it's the Disley sense of humour I suppose.

Location

Nearest town: Disley

Directions / Parking

Parking is going to be very tight at the pub. PLEASE don't take the last places because the pub will potentially lose other customers and we potentially lose a venue!

Alternative parking can be found on the A6 but in the direction of Buxton. The library is nearer the centre of Disley and has parking, free for 3 hours,  as does the Rams Head free after 5 pm. Failing that and a little further away is the station car park. Treat the walk to the pub as a warm up.

Registration & Start Times

Registration from 18.30. Pre-race briefing 19.10. Mass start 19.15

For people who can not make it for this time, or are delayed in traffic, there will be the opportunity to be timed electronically using your own or a borrowed SI card. The same options of 60 or 90 minutes apply.

Entry Details

Fees: Senior £3, Junior/student £1.50

Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

Terrain Description

Footpaths, bridleways, canal towpaths and quite a few hills will make planning and judgement of time a bit tricky here.

Facilities

Pub meals available.

Dogs allowed?

Dogs on leads at all times. Farming country.

Contacts / Officials

Co-ordinator: Dave McCann 0161 483 2061

Safety and Risk

A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event.
