Event Report

Of the 41 controls, only two (#18 , #24) were not visited by any of the 36 runners.   The rest had at least two visits; even those placed in the north west to keep the hares busy.

Some people who did a similar event from the Boddington Arms, Wilmslow in July 2013 would have recognised some of the controls, as about 20 of them were re-used.

Because the starts were on opposite sides of the area, and the area had shifted east, no-one should have had a similar run.  This may be worth considering if planning time is limited, though I was surprised how many controls had changed in two years.

Two controls had more than one incorrect answer:  #7, where the number and letter on the TP is 9C  (not 8C or 7C) and #22 where there are 2 humans on the fingerpost (not 1).

The latter is a common clue in Countryside Score, so I was being lenient  to mark ‘1 each side’ as correct, if it didn’t say how many ‘sides’ there were  (i.e. two).

My answer to #23 – the number in yellow on the lamp post was 40.   I also allowed 500 because several people put it and one person put 40 or 500, so both must have been there.

Thanks to John Williamson for checking most of the control descriptions and to Joseph and Hannah Proud for slashing nettles and brambles in various places, and to Simon Proud for the planning and finding such a pleasant place to start and finish.
