Controller's Comments

Thank you for coming. Despite the rain, I heard many nice comments about the courses so thanks to the two planners for that. There appeared to be a couple of technical hitches:-

a) the SIAC units introduced a range of new issues for the results team (we have been lenient) and it was a learning process for officials and competitors. A key thing is to ensure your dibber is woken up before you start.

b) The magnetic north lines. I received draft printed courses from MDOC and also printed maps on SYO's OKI laser printer, and there was no white shadow alongside the blue north lines. But the final course maps, inconsistently, showed alongside the north lines white shadows which did look like passages. We are not sure how this happened, but hope that it did not upset your runs.

Ian G and John B put in a lot of conscientious work into the event, including a traffic census for road safety.

Thanks to MDOC for fixing the event timing so I could do a Parkrun in the middle of control checking!

Ian Cooper, SYO

Maze

The maze, excellently managed by Steve and Ben Dempsey, was well used. We had over 140 “runs”, by Juniors, Seniors and the local children.

Michael Adams did all 6 courses in the fastest time.
