British Champs Weekend 2014

MDOC members had some very good results at the British Championships in Northumberland last weekend, gaining a Gold and four Bronze medals in the Long Distance plus a Gold, two Silvers and a Bronze in the Relays.

At the Long Distance event on Saturday at Thrunton Woods and Callaly, John Britton had an excellent run becoming the new M60 British Champion, while Matthew Fellbaum (M16), Vicky Thornton (W50), Andrew Gregory (M75) and Sue Birkinshaw (W75) all gained bronze medals.

There was more success in the Relays on Sunday at the Cragg Estate and Chesterhope Common with a win for the MDOC Top Gear team of Alistair Thornton, John Dempsey and Matthew Fellbaum in the M18 relay, finishing over two minutes ahead of teams from SYO and LOC.

In the Men's Short relay, the MDOC Balls Of Steel team comprising Tom Fellbaum, Steve Dempsey and Alex McCann came home in 2nd place, less than a minute behind the leaders from Southern Navigators.

The MDOC Absolutely Fabulous team of Heather Fellbaum, Hazel Hindle and Vicky Thornton took 3rd place in the W50 relay, while the MDOC Countdown team of Julie Brook, Alison Doyle and Margaret Gregory finished 2nd in the W60 relay.
