Event Report
Many thanks to all those of you who came along to yesterday evening's Spunch at New Mills Golf Club (Over 150 of you including the kids).
It was great to see so many regulars and yet more newcomers - especially the staff & parents from the New Mills Primary School and their many Spunchkins!
The area chosen by Steve & Sue is an old favourite, and with good reason, it is an excellent area for this type of event - particularly when the sun shines!
When I arrived at the Golf Club just before 5pm to set up Registration, I will admit to being just a little concerned to find that there were only about half-a-dozen vacant car parking spaces available in the main car park. (We'd advertised 60!) Those pesky golfers eh!
I was then met by young Stan Fisher who's first words were "It's going to be chaos!"
Order was soon restored though, as with the resourcefulness of "Mrs Fisher" and the calm team of Beresford, Ross & Trueman alternative arrangements were quickly put in place resulting in us getting you all parked without too much collateral damage! Apologies if you ended up having slightly longer walks to/from your vehicles.
Big respect to Simon Freytag & Richard Kendall both of whom very nearly swept up the lot in 2 hours. Simon just edging it on time (dare I mention local knowledge?!)
In the 90minute course I think I should call out first-timer Pawel Bugajski who got caught out by time penalties but would have otherwise been at the very top end. Hope you will come back for more Pawel
Finally in the 60minute course, young Robyn Fisher - Wow - a potential superstar navigator in the making maybe?!
The links to the new format MapRun results are above. Sometimes the results take a little while to load, but when you get there they are very comprehensive including split times, GPS tracks etc! If your result is not shown, it may be that you need to do a manual upload from your MapRun app.
We hope you enjoyed it! We are always looking for feedback so please do let me know - what did you like, and maybe what didn't you like?!
SpunchPix Comp: l have already received some great pics of your outing last night. If any of you have more that you are happy to be shared anonymously on social media etc, please WhatsApp them to me on 07751932749 or email on . Best pic received by midnight Friday will receive a free entry to a future Spunch. I will publish the best pic over the weekend.
Big shout outs to Kirsty, the staff & members at the Golf Club for their welcoming hospitality and excellent food & drink service. We hope to be back soon (please)!
Finally to Sue & Steve (without whom this would not have happened), and to the MapRun/VAR experts, Printers, and on-the-day helpers (you know who you are).
