MDOC in the Hungarian TORUS TempO Trophy 2025 - May

Last Wednesday, 6 MDOC members joined hundreds of the finest Trail Orienteers from around the world as they came together online on the TempO simulator for the 5th round of the Hungarian TORUS TempO Trophy, a year long series produced by Zoltán Miháczi with events taking place on the final Wednesday of every month...

This time, 6 stations had been created on the same area that had been used for the TempO and PreO Sprint in the Hungarian TrailO Weekend in early April, featuring a Foot Golf course covered in rolling hills and patches of shrubbery and sand bunkers.

Ben Kyd continued his strong performances from throughout the year, winning the event with a time of 99 seconds and no mistakes. Sam Drinkwater (now a member of ERYRI orienteering but still competes on the TempOSim under MDOC) was the only other member to finish with no mistakes, in 267 seconds, and while John Kewley and Alain Kyd both completed the course quicker than that, they made 4 and 5 mistakes respectively, so finished behind Sam after incurring the time penalties for their mistakes.

Overall in the series, Ben is still winning with a total score of 400.00, having won 4 of the 5 events this year (currently the best 4 of 5 events are being counted). Sam finds himself as the second best MDOC in 21st place with 366.60, and John in 53rd with 351.66 rounding out the MDOC members in the top 100. In the team competition, MDOC is still leading with 1117.09, but after this event GBR dropped from 1st to 3rd after strong performances from both the Swedes and the Czechs. They will look to reclaim 1st place in the next event on the 25th June.
