There will be a variety of maps – urban, street and terrain – as well as courses from linear to score. The terrain will also range from urban, through parkland to wilder terrain.
Complete all four contests to complete your summer orienteering skills top-up. As MapRun is done independently, you will have very little chance of following others into tricky controls, and your route will be available online for a thorough post-mortem.
Starting in August
The first of the Series will be published on the Manchester Navvies site just in time for a crack of dawn start on Saturday 1st August, and the others will be posted once a fortnight thereafter. The maps will be available as PDFs for you to print.

Take care crossing busy roads. As you are likely to be running alone, tell someone where you have gone, and when you expect to be back. Dress for the weather and visibility, if necessary. Respect other users of the area and social distancing rules. Please follow British Orienteering’s Covid-19 Code of Conduct for Orienteers. Charge up the battery on your smartphone!
Under 16's MUST be accompanied by an adult.
Please note: Though the planner will have taken potential hazards into consideration, you take part in this activity at your own risk. The MapRun Series is not covered by BOF’s event insurance.
