A series of 7 Countryside Score events using Satellite (GPS) S-punching staged on weekends over the period October 2022 to April 2023 ...
- "Rolling start" score events, see individual event details for start times
- 60 minute and 90 minute course options - you choose on the day
- Typically 30-40 control sites, to be visited in any order, scattered over an area of 6 to 9 km². S-punch as many as you can get within your chosen time limit. 20 points for every control visited. 10 point penalty for each minute or part minute late back
- Events typically staged in different, scenic and interesting rural areas not normally used for regular orienteering events
- Maps provided will be enlarged and enhanced OS Explorer series - waterproof A4 maps at a scale of around 1:12500. Zoomable map also available on your smartphone. Control sites placed on public rights of way or in open access areas. Areas chosen have high density path / track networks providing plentiful route choice options
- Controls to be S-punched using the MapRun app on your Smartphone or Garmin
- Suitable for orienteers, trail runners, park runners, walkers and newcomers alike. Can be done solo, in pairs or even small groups. Also suitable for under 16s accompanied by parent / guardian. Lots of help available before the start for newcomers.
- Red dot option showing current position on smartphone app to help newbie navigators
- Results available on-line immediately following course completion (subject to data signal)
- Starts and Finishes always adjacent to car parking, loos and nearby refreshment outlet for post event analysis and socialising
- Seniors £4, Under 21s/students £2. Under 16s go free but must be accompanied by a paying adult.
