Planner's Comments
Thanks to all who came along to Church House last Wednesday. Numbers were a bit down on what we have come to expect, but this might have been due to the clash with Macc Harriers' "Polly Lander" event in the Goyt Valley, Wilmslow Running Club's summer series 10km race the following day, the World Cup …
Thanks to Shelagh at Church House for accommodating us, to Steve Lang for printing, to Andy Thornton for running Registration, to Chris Rostron and Martin Green who became car park attendants at a moment's notice, and James McCann for doing all the on-the-night marking - he did a great job!
Congratulations to Jim Trueman who won the 90 minute event and Alistair Thornton who was clear winner of the 60 minute event despite (just) incurring 3 time penalties …
… and the returned clue sheets demonstrate that it was effectively two events, as some controls came into play at 90 minutes that were out of reach at 60.
Jim Trueman, Carl Benson, Alan Ogden, Dave McCann and Steve Fellbaum made their way up to Control 30 at The Hanging Gate (@325m elevation); while Jim, John Britton, Stephen Martin, Chris Rostron and Eddie Speak visited control 46 (also @ 325m elevation) - the view must have been lovely! Three people found the four "Modern Megaliths" at control 40, while four visited the delightful stone bridge at control 38.
In reviewing the marking I've accepted the following:
Control 14 5 or 6 rungs on the hen house
Control 22 3 or 4 strands of barbed wire
Control 26 No-one gave my answer of 9 o-clock, so I've accepted the two answers of 12 o'clock
Control 36 "A M Bell" accepted, though you weren't looking at the same post as I was ("I/dog/boxer")
Control 38 4 or 5 capping stones on each side of the stone bridge
Otherwise, where the majority of people have given my expected answer I have not accepted a different answer. Happily there aren't very many of these.
Hope you enjoyed it - see you in 2 weeks in Mobberley!
