Knipe Scar - Regional event

On Saturday 17th May, Border Liners offer a middle distance regional event on Knipe Scar, a limestone scarp slope on the edge of the Lowther Estate.

The area consists of a flattish top to the hill, with moderately steep slopes to the West. The lower part of the area is characterised by a mass of gorse thickets which have been accurately mapped and offer challenging orienteering. The area is easily accessible from the M6, leaving at either Shap Summit or Penrith.

A full range of colour coded courses will be available.

Angle Tarn Pikes - Northern Championships

The following day, 18th May, Manchester & District offer an event on Angle Tarn Pikes, at the head of Ullswater in Patterdale.

This event will incorporate the Northern Championships (for eligible runners from NWOA, YHOA and NEOA) but all runners from outside the region are more than welcome.

Angle Tarn Pikes is not quite treeless but does offer several areas of intricate rock and contour detail.

The uphill walk to the start will be worth it as the views of the surrounding hills is excellent, if you have the time to spare.

Age class courses up to M/W 95+ string and colour coded courses up to Light Green will be available. (Colour coded courses are NOT championship courses).
